There are so many things to see and do in this beautiful city, why choose these places? Annecy has long been known for its exceptional beauty. It&#8217;s picturesque setting at the foot of the Alps makes it perfect for relaxation, culture and outdoor activities. During the summer months, A\u00a0 hosts numerous festivals, concerts and events, making it a great destination for tourists from around the globe.<\/p>\n<h2>Jean-Jacques Rousseau&#8217;s Chateau<\/h2>\n<p>This place was once the home of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, one of France\u2019s most famous philosophers. Rousseau, who loved nature, lived here from 1764 until he died in 1778. His gardens were opened as a public park in 1827.<\/p>\n<h2>Musee de l&#8217;Ancien Palais<\/h2>\n<p>Located on Place Stanislas, this museum used to be the home of Prince Eugene of Savoy, one of Napoleon\u2019s generals. It was later bought by the French state and turned into an art museum.<\/p>\n<h2>Mus\u00e9e Historique et Artificiel des Pays du Jura<\/h2>\n<p>This open-air museum consists of 11 historical buildings including a farmhouse, a brewery, a distillery, a blacksmith, a cabinet maker and a print shop.<\/p>\n<h2>Mus\u00e9e Dapper<\/h2>\n<p>This small museum offers interesting tours and <a href=\"https:\/\/annecy-city.com\/\">displays<\/a> of daily life and objects that tell the story of tourism in Annecy.<\/p>\n<h2>H\u00f4tel Le Grand Colombier<\/h2>\n<p>Only 3 minutes walk from the train station, this hotel dates back to the 14th century and was restored in 1997. A total of 25 rooms with antique furniture provide accommodation for guests in need of peace.<\/p>\n<h2>Jardin Publique<\/h2>\n<p>As well as being home to the Mus\u00e9e Dapper, this green space also accommodates ice skating during winter and tennis courts throughout the year.<\/p>\n<h2>Basilica Notre Dame Cathedral<\/h2>\n<p>The oldest church in town, it was first mentioned in documents dating back to 799. a festival dedicated to Saint Peter.<\/p>\n<h2>Lake Annecy<\/h2>\n<p>The first thing you need to see in Annecy is, of course, the lake itself: an amazing lac de Thioureaux, surrounded by cliffs covered with green forests. You can rent some paddle boats for a leisurely afternoon on the waters or go fishing. If you want to enjoy the view of the mountains surrounding the lake, we recommend staying at one of the hotels lining the shore.<\/p>\n<h2>Chateau de la Tour-de-Peilz<\/h2>\n<p>This castle sits right above the town, which means that it offers stunning views over the whole of Annecy. It was built back in 1150 and since then it has undergone several transformations and additions. Today, the castle houses various museums, including a museum dedicated to climbing and mountaineering (the original title of the building was &#8220;Maison des Vues&#8221;). Open all year round, admission costs 7 Euros.<\/p>\n<h2>Place St Jean<\/h2>\n<p>Enjoy watching live music performances while sitting on one of the terrace caf\u00e9s of this charming square. Each July, the square plays host to the Festival M\u00e9t\u00e9o de Jazz, a festival celebrated worldwide thanks to its unique musical program.<\/p>\n<h2>Mus\u00e9e Historique de Serres<\/h2>\n<p>One of the most important agricultural museums in Europe, the Museum of Historical Farmhouses in Serres showcases six different buildings that served as farmhouses throughout the centuries. Every March, the museum organizes open-air exhibitions featuring traditional dance music.<\/p>\n<h2>Maison de la Truffe<\/h2>\n<p>Located near the Abbey of Val Claret, this is the biggest truffle market in France. The house welcomes visitors who wish to taste and buy different types of these \u201cblack diamonds\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>Ponte Vecchio<\/h2>\n<p>This medieval stone arched bridge connects the Upper Town with the Lower Town, thus earning the nickname of the Pearl.<\/p>\n<h2>Castle Gardens<\/h2>\n<p>Just behind the Chateau de Beava, you can find these beautiful gardens. They date back to the 1600s and were originally the private property of Madame de Fourville. In 1920 they were acquired by the State, and today it is a public park.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line<\/h2>\n<p>Annecy is a great destination for those looking to slow down and relax after a busy day exploring the mountains.
